Is Google Search Console enough for AI search visibility?

No. ChatGPT search and Microsoft Copilot draw heavily on Bing’s index. If your site is not verified and crawlable in Bing Webmaster Tools, you can miss citations that would otherwise be possible. Use both GSC and Bing WMT.

What is the fastest way to verify a WordPress site in Bing WMT?

Either import from Google Search Console (one click if the property exists) or add Bing’s meta tag via Rank Math under General Settings → Webmaster Tools → Bing. XML file upload to the site root is equally reliable.

What sitemap URL should I submit for WordPress?

For Rank Math, it is usually https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml. For Yoast, often /sitemap_index.xml or /sitemap.xml. Open the URL in a browser to confirm it returns valid XML before submitting.

What is IndexNow and do I need it?

IndexNow lets you ping Bing when you publish or update pages so discovery is faster than waiting for a full crawl. For blogs and frequently updated sites, the free WordPress IndexNow plugin plus an API key from Bing WMT is high leverage.

How long until ChatGPT can cite my pages after setup?

After verification and sitemap submission, Bing typically starts crawling within 48–72 hours. Meaningful ChatGPT citations for competitive queries often show within about two weeks, depending on crawl budget, site quality, and topical relevance.
